This Privacy Policy describes how Unote ("we," "our," or "us"), developed by Data Route LLC, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our application Unote (the "App"), available on iOS and macOS.

- Voice Recordings: When you use our App to record voice notes, we collect the audio recordings you create.
- Transcriptions: We generate and store text transcriptions of your voice recordings using OpenAI's Whisper API.
- Authentication Information: When you create an account using Google Sign In or Apple Sign In, we collect authentication data including your email address, name, and user identifiers provided by these services.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: We collect data about how you use the App, including actions taken, features used, and time spent in the App.
- Device Information: We may collect information about your device, including device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
Health and Fitness Data (Optional)
With your explicit authorization through Apple Health, the App may read the following health and fitness data from your device. This data collection is entirely optional and requires your affirmative consent for each data type. The App requests read-only access and does not write data back to Apple Health.
- Activity Data: Steps, walking and running distance, active energy burned, and exercise time
- Heart Data: Heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), and resting heart rate
- Body Measurements: Body mass, height, and body mass index (BMI)
- Vitals: Body temperature, blood oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate
- Sleep: Sleep analysis data including sleep stages
- Workouts: Workout activity type, duration, distance, and energy burned
You control which data types to share through per-type toggles in the App's settings. You may revoke access to any or all health data types at any time through the App's settings or through Apple Health settings on your device.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your user account
- Authenticate your identity when you access the App
- Process and store your voice recordings
- Generate transcriptions of your voice recordings
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's functionality
- Sync health and fitness data across your devices (if you have authorized Apple Health access)
- Generate personalized wellness insights by analyzing health metrics alongside your voice notes
- Analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience
- Troubleshoot technical issues
Data Storage and Security
Your voice recordings and transcriptions are stored on our servers to provide you with additional functionality such as cross-device access and backup. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
Health Data Use and Protection
If you choose to grant the App access to your health and fitness data through Apple Health, the following practices apply:
Storage and Processing
- Health data is stored locally on your device and synced to our servers to enable cross-device access and backup.
- Health data is processed by AI services (OpenAI) solely to generate personalized wellness insights that combine your health metrics with your voice notes.
Restrictions on Health Data Use
In compliance with Apple's App Store Review Guidelines and applicable law:
- Health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or use-based data mining purposes.
- Health data is never sold to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.
- Health data is never shared with third parties for purposes unrelated to providing health or fitness services directly to you.
- Health data shared with AI services is used exclusively to generate your personalized wellness insights and is not retained by those services for other purposes.
Your Controls
- You may enable or disable health data sync at any time in the App's settings.
- You may toggle individual health data types on or off.
- You may delete all stored health data from both your device and our servers at any time through the App's settings.
- You may revoke the App's access to Apple Health data at any time through your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.
Third-Party Authentication Services
Our App uses Google Sign In and Apple Sign In to authenticate users and create accounts. When you choose to sign in with Google or Apple:
- We receive basic profile information (email address, name, and user identifier) from the authentication provider you choose
- This information is used solely to create and manage your account with our App
- We do not store your Google or Apple account passwords
- Your use of Google Sign In is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
- Your use of Apple Sign In is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Information Sharing
We do not share your personal information with third parties except:
- With OpenAI and AssemblyAI for the purpose of transcribing your voice recordings
- With OpenAI for the purpose of generating personalized wellness insights from your health and fitness data (if you have authorized Apple Health access)
- With Google and Apple for authentication purposes when you choose to sign in using these services
- As required by law, such as to comply with legal processes or governmental requests
- To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
Health and fitness data obtained from Apple Health is never shared with third parties for advertising, marketing, or data mining purposes.
Analytics
We use analytics tools to collect information about how you use our App. This helps us understand user behavior and improve our services.
Future Location Data Collection
While we do not currently collect location data, we may implement location-based features in the future. Should we begin collecting location data, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly, and appropriate consent will be obtained.
Children's Privacy
Our App is intended for users of all ages. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.
